Sioux City Reads returns with a new title for 2026: The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger! Sioux Cityans chose this title by voting on the Library’s website. This book will become the basis for a month of programs and discussions in March.
1st Saturday Family Storytime: Library Puppet Show on February 7
Join us for a puppet show featuring some of our favorite underwater friends! Children can create their own puppet to take home after the curtains close! Parking is free at the Aalfs Downtown Library on weekends.

Sharing books and stories is important to your child’s brain development. Join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge that brings you and your child closer together while developing their vocabulary and preparing them to become a stronger reader. Learn how to get started!
Each week on Tuesday at 11 am at the Perry Creek Library or Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Morningside Branch Library join us for a fun and interactive storytime for ages 0 through 5! Curious young minds experience the magic that stories offer, build vocabulary, and develop early literacy skills for future reading success!
