The Sioux City Public Library’s summer hours have begun. The Aalfs Downtown Library will be closed Sundays for the rest of the summer and Sunday hours will resume after Labor Day.
All locations will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Happy National Library Week! (April 7 – 13)
National Library Week is a time to celebrate libraries, the contributions of library workers, and to promote library use and support. The theme for National Library Week 2024 is "Ready, Set, Library," illustrating the idea that in this fast-paced, online-focused world, libraries give everyone a green light to something truly special: a place to discover a great read, connect with others, and learn new skills.
1st Saturday Family Storytime: Library Puppet Show! on April 6
Let us entertain you! Join us for a puppet show featuring trickster spider Anansi! Children can create their own puppet to take home after the curtains close. All ages welcome. Registration is required. Free parking on weekends!
Summer Internship Opportunity at the Sioux City Public Library!
Attention high school* & college students! The Sioux City Public Library is seeking an energetic person with a passion for literacy and a desire to share their enthusiasm for reading with young people in our community to serve in the Library's Youth Services Department as a Student Intern. The internship will run from approximately May 20th through August 2nd, 2024. *Must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Free Eclipse Glasses from the Library!
Monday, April 8 is Solar Eclipse Day! Want to get the very best glimpse of this partial solar eclipse? Stop by any of the three Library locations (Aalfs Downtown, Morningside Branch, or Perry Creek Branch) to pick up your FREE Eclipse Glasses! One pair of glasses per family member, with a limit of 4 per family. Supplies are limited.

Each week on Tuesday at 11 am at the Perry Creek Library or Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Morningside Branch Library join us for a fun and interactive storytime for ages 0 through 5!
