The Sioux City Public Library’s summer hours have begun. The Aalfs Downtown Library will be closed Sundays for the rest of the summer and Sunday hours will resume after Labor Day.
All locations will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

April’s Open Book Club: Red Memory: The Afterlives of China’s Cultural Revolution by Tania Branigan
Red Memory uncovers forty years of silence through the stories of individuals who lived through the decade of Maoist fanaticism between 1966 and 1976.
Q & A Session with Author Idra Novey on March 30
Idra Novey, author of the 2024 Sioux City Reads book, Take What You Need will join us via ZOOM for a live Q & A discussion at the Sioux City Art Center! Art Center attendees will be invited to ask their questions in a town hall style Q & A session. Social Hour begins at 2 pm with light refreshments - hors d'oeuvres and beverages. The Q & A Session will begin at 3 pm and seating is limited. Tickets will be available on a first come basis starting at 2 pm.
Razzle Dazzle Sewing Events with Amanda Browder and the Sioux City Art Center
In partnership with the Sioux City Art Center, the Sioux City Public Library is hosting sewing events at the Aalfs Downtown Library where community members can take part in the creation of the installation Razzle Dazzle with artist Amanda Browder! No experience is necessary. Materials will be provided.
Career Cruiser at the Morningside Branch Library on March 21
Looking for a new job, career change, or tips on how to ace an interview? Career Cruiser will be at the Morningside Branch Library on Thursday, March 21 from 10 am to 2 pm. It offers resume assistance, job search resources, education and training directly to your community at no charge to the public.
