The Sioux City Public Library’s summer hours have begun. The Aalfs Downtown Library will be closed Sundays for the rest of the summer and Sunday hours will resume after Labor Day.
All locations will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday Celebration on July 18
Join us for a birthday celeBEARtion! 2024 marks the 80th birthday of Smokey the Bear! Only you (and all your closest friends!) can join Smokey Bear for birthday fun at the Library! The Sioux City Fire Department will be there to share fire safety tips and attendees can check out a fire engine up close! At this fun birthday celebration, you will not only meet Smokey Bear but get to sing Happy Birthday to him! Registration is required.
Guided Meditation with The Expansion Center on July 17
Center yourself and unwind at the Aalfs Downtown Library with this hour-long guided meditation program led by specialists from The Expansion Center on July 17 from 6 - 7 pm.
Sioux City True Crime Talk: The Murders of 1925 on July 16
Sarah Enright, Local History Librarian Specialist, and a true crime fan herself, uses the library's resources, such as archived newspaper clippings, microfilm, databases, and web resources, to construct detailed narratives of local cases. This session will spotlight the deadliest year on record in Sioux City's history, 1925.

Each week on Tuesday at 11 am at the Perry Creek Library or Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Morningside Branch Library join us for a fun and interactive storytime for ages 0 through 5! Curious young minds experience the magic that stories offer, build vocabulary, and develop early literacy skills for future reading success!
