Hallow-Read: Kids Reading Challenge (October 1-31)
October is HALLOW-READ month! Kids can log their reading and earn creepy badges all month long (October 1-31). Ages 0-5 have a goal of reading 30 books over the course of the month. Ages 6-18 have a goal of reading 5 hours over the course of the month. Hit the reading goal of 30 books or 5 hours read in October and earn an adorable Jack-O'-Lantern backpack plushie!
Cemetery Walk at Graceland Park Cemetery on October 11
Beneath the quiet stones of Graceland Park Cemetery lie stories of lives cut short, secrets buried deep, and crimes that shook Sioux City. Join Sarah Enright, Local History Librarian Specialist, for a one- hour walking tour on Saturday, October 11 from 10 to 11 am, where you’ll visit the gravesites of crime victims and hear the true stories behind the investigations and headlines.

From a wry, insightful, and very funny new voice, here is one woman’s peripatetic search for home, from Kashmir to England to Saudi Arabia to Michigan to Rome and, finally, to Los Angeles.
1st Saturday Family Storytime: Pumpkin Patch Party on October 4
Carve out some time to party with pumpkins and pals! Enjoy seasonal stories and rhymes, followed by a fun craft and jack-o'-lantern hunt! Come for a gourd time!

Curious young minds experience the magic that stories offer, build vocabulary, and develop early literacy skills for future reading success!
