Local History at the Library: Restaurant Reminisce

If there’s one thing Sioux Cityans can agree on, it’s that our history is rich with delicious eateries.  

Visit the new “Restaurant Reminisce” Local History display on the 2nd floor at the Aalfs Downtown Library, to take a food-filled walk down memory lane. Reminisce about restaurants that have come and gone and those that started long ago and are still around. You may have even missed a few! Even if you don’t come hungry, we guarantee you’ll leave craving a Big Scotchman, a Coney Dog, or a hot cheese pizza delivered to your table by Wilbur the coyote.

Thank You Book Sale Volunteers!

The Friends of the Sioux City Public Library Book Lovers Book Sale concluded on April 16 and was the largest book sale the Friends of the Sioux City Public Library has held. An estimated 100,000 volumes in 2,500+ very heavy boxes amassed from 3 years of donations were sorted, moved, and organized by our volunteers. This was a huge undertaking, but the Sioux City area community rose to the occasion.
