Sioux City True Crime: Cold Case Files on April 30
Sarah Enright, Local History Librarian Specialist, will examine several of Sioux City's infamous cold cases. Using the library's archived newspaper clippings, microfilm, and web resources, Sarah will present facts about the crimes, theories, and law enforcement efforts throughout the years. Memories and input from attendees will be encouraged as the cases are discussed.
1st Saturday Family Storytime: May the Fourth Be With You! on May 4
Celebrate “Star Wars Day” with out-of-this-world books from a galaxy far, far away! We’ll share outer space stories, test our Jedi skills, and make a cosmic craft to take home! All ages welcome. Registration is required. Free parking on weekends!
May’s Open Book Club: The History of a Difficult Child by Mihret Sibhat
Told through the perspective of its charming and irresistible narrator, The History of a Difficult Child is about what happens when mother, God, and country are at odds, and how one difficult child finds her voice. There are two in-person sessions each month and a virtual option for those who can't make the in-person meetings!
2024 Book Lovers’ Book Sale: April 18 – 27
It’s the most wonderful time of year - Book Sale Time! The Book Sale will run from April 18 through 27. This year's location is the also the location used last year, the former Chuck E Cheese site at the Southern Hills Mall. Park on the Barnes & Nobles side of the mall and use the outside door to enter. This used Book Sale is a Friends of the Sioux City Public Library fundraiser. Proceeds enrich public library service in Sioux City, funding children's summer reading initiative and providing books, recordings, online resources, and more!
