Starting July 1, the Sioux City Public Library will allow resident card holders to borrow from our new Library of Things!
A Library of Things gives residents a chance to try something new without investing in it first and promotes sustainability in allowing residents access to seldomly used household items. The Library of Things collection at the Sioux City Public Library will provide new resources for residents to explore areas of interest, try out new leisure activities, and gain access to items where cost or storage space may be an obstacle. Libraries worldwide are adding Libraries of Things to their typical collections of books, magazines, and audiovisual materials.
The Library’s collection of ‘things’ includes tools to assist with home improvement, yard games, hobby equipment, board games, health and wellness items, and much more! Spruce up a party, try a new game, test out a hobby, or monitor your health and that of your surroundings. Some of the items that will be included in the collection for checkout are a radon test kit, stud finder, soil tester, metal detector, telescope, yard games, tools, a karaoke machine, sewing machine, paper shredder, pickleball set, Blu-ray player, and a blood pressure monitor.
Patrons can browse the Library of Things and place items for hold online at www.siouxcitylibrary.org/library-of-things
