Summer Reading 2020: Imagine Your Story 

June 15th – July 31st

Welcome to Summer Reading 2020. Get ready to “Imagine Your Story!”

Below are a couple of ways to get in on the fun this year, and some virtual programs we have planned. We hope you’ll join us for all of it!

READING AND ACTIVITIES:

Beanstack: Participate in weekly Summer Reading Challenges and digitally track reading. Completing our challenges and reaching reading goals earns you tickets that can be put toward chances to win prizes!

Summer Quest Kit: You can grab your Summer Quest Kit at our Morningside Branch Library (Monday – Friday 11 am to 6 pm and Saturday 9 am to 12 pm). This kit includes age-appropriate books specially selected to help you Imagine Your Story, supplies for participating in our weekly challenges, and extra goodies to add to your summer fun!

VIRTUAL PROGRAMS:

Library Storytime: (Ages 2-5) Curious young minds experience the magic that stories offer, build vocabulary, and develop early literacy skills for future reading success! Join us for our Facebook Live broadcast each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Imagination Builders: (Ages 6-8) Experience stories beyond the pages of the books through these hands-on, STEAM-based storytimes. Mondays, July 6 through July 27 at 11:00 a.m. (Click each date below to register for that day’s event).

Innovation Studio: (Ages 9-13). Explore science, technology, engineering, and math by tinkering, experimenting, and collaborating to solve real-world problems. Presented in partnership with Woodbury County 4H. The Library will contact registrants to supply a kit with necessary supplies. Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 7 through July 23 at 2:00 p.mAfter completing your registration, you will be contacted by a children’s librarian to arrange a time to pick up your Innovation Studio kit, which will include everything you will need for all six Innovation Studio events. Registering for the first event will automatically sign you up for all six Innovation Studios. 

Summer Reading Spectacular Dance Party! – Friday, July 10 at 7 pmSing along and shake your tail feather during our virtual dance party featuring the musical stylings of Duke Otherwise. He’ll perform modern children’s classics plus his original works.
