Summer reading for dreamers of all ages
Find yourself. Lose yourself. Wake up. Dream. Do it all.
Summer reading at the Sioux City Public Library, supported by the Friends of the Library, includes movies, activities, special guests, animals, and of course, reading.
Beginning June 1, participants in preschool through 5th grade can explore the night with “Dream Big—READ!” while grades 6 through 9 can participate in “Own the Night.” Readers in both age groups can earn a paperback book to keep by visiting any public library location 4 times between June 1 and July 31.
“From night skies to high aspirations, this year’s themes lend themselves very well to nature and science programs,” said Jeanette Bobeen, Youth Services Manager at the Sioux City Public Library. “Storytimes, Adventures!, and special events offer challenges of all sorts, as well as allow readers to use the Library to pursue their own hopes and dreams, at their own pace.”
All events are free but may require a ticket or advance registration. Sign up begins June 1. Older teens and adults may participate in "Between the Covers," an independent reading challenge where brief reviews serve as entries in a prize drawing for patrons and comments may be posted on this website.
