Meet the read-to-me story dogs
The popular read-to-me story dogs return to the Morningside Branch Library on Saturday, October 1 for a series of fall visits. Children of all ages may select their favorite books and read aloud to gentle canine listeners from 2 to 3 p.m. each Saturday from October 1 through December 3—no appointment necessary. As members of the K-9 S.T.A.R.S. animal assisted therapy group, these dogs have passed a temperament test and completed special training.
“Reading aloud to a non-judgmental listener improves reader motivation and self-confidence,” said Youth Services Manager Jeanette Bobeen. “Dogs love to listen, they don’t interrupt with corrections and they help readers relax.”
