Library hosts writing workshop

"The world is made of stories, not atoms," said poet Muriel Ruykeser. On Saturday, August 4, those who attend the memoir writing workshop at The Wilbur Aalfs (Main) Library, 529 Pierce St, Sioux City, will have the opportunity to show how true that is. Charley Kempthorne, author of For All Time: A Complete Guide to Writing Your Family History, will conduct a workshop from 3 to 5 pm, helping beginning and established writers tell the stories of their lives.

"Everyone can write stories," Kempthorne insists, "and often the ones who have the least training as writers do the best job." The workshop is free and open to the public. Advance  registration is not required, though seating is limited. Kempthorne's book is available for checkout at the Sioux City Public Library. The workshop is sponsored by the Woodbury County Genealogical Society and is part of the Library's yearlong grand reopening celebration: imagine, discover, connect...books are just the beginning.
