Hats off to our summer helpers
What makes summer reading so much fun? Our creative staff could not present a wide array of activities each year without community support. The Friends of the Library have enthusiastically supported summer reading for years, providing reading incentives for the participants and a free book for each child who completes the program—that’s approximately 1,500 paperbacks every summer! Their funding allows us to bring in great performers and presenters as well. We give a big THANK YOU to our generous Friends—we couldn’t do it without you!
Further support, especially for the teen program, comes from area businesses. This year Greatland Target gave a grant to purchase Legos for two programs; Barnes & Noble provided materials for the American Girls programs; the Promenade Cinema will give each teen a free movie pass, and has donated decorations and prizes for the Hunger Games program; and the Explorers Baseball team signed autographs and handed out free tickets at our summer reading kickoff event.
The Library also received food coupons and support from Domino's Pizza, A&W/Long John Silver’s, Arby's, Chick-fil-A, Culver's, McDonald's, Papa Murphy's, Burger King, and Sonic. Country Drive Driving Range and Mini Golf provided free passes and buckets of balls. We greatly appreciate this local support—thanks everyone!
