Appointed by the City Council, the 7-member Library Board of Trustees determines policies for the Library's operation, selects a Director with the authority and responsibility for administration of the Library, develops the Library's annual funding request, budgets the funds appropriated by the City Council and authorizes all major expenditures, carries out duties assigned by State and local ordinances, actively seeks funding for the Library's needs and services, and promotes the Library in the community.

The Friends of the Sioux City Public Library

The Friends Board organizes a used book sale each spring and funds Library projects with the proceeds. Celebrate the enjoyment of using your public library! Since 1965, financial support from The Friends for print and recorded media, children's programming and outreach, computers, and online resources has helped the Sioux City Public Library provide the excellent service we enjoy today.
