Summer Internship Opportunity at the Sioux City Public Library!
Attention high school* & college students! The Sioux City Public Library is seeking an energetic person with a passion for literacy and a desire to share their enthusiasm for reading with young people in our community to serve in the Library's Youth Services Department as a Student Intern. The internship will run from approximately May 20th through August 2nd, 2024. *Must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Q & A Session with Author Idra Novey on March 30
Idra Novey, author of the 2024 Sioux City Reads book, Take What You Need will join us via ZOOM for a live Q & A discussion at the Sioux City Art Center! Art Center attendees will be invited to ask their questions in a town hall style Q & A session. Social Hour begins at 2 pm with light refreshments - hors d'oeuvres and beverages. The Q & A Session will begin at 3 pm and seating is limited. Tickets will be available on a first come basis starting at 2 pm.
1st Saturday Family Storytime: Library Puppet Show! on April 6
Let us entertain you! Join us for a puppet show featuring trickster spider Anansi! Children can create their own puppet to take home after the curtains close. All ages welcome. Registration is required. Free parking on weekends!
April’s Open Book Club: Red Memory: The Afterlives of China’s Cultural Revolution by Tania Branigan
Red Memory uncovers forty years of silence through the stories of individuals who lived through the decade of Maoist fanaticism between 1966 and 1976.
